Testing a new Pencil Sketch effect

Hi all,

Just a quick update to let you know that I'm currently experimenting with a new pencil sketch effect.

Here are a couple of examples (the first one is just the new filter, the second is a blend with Painting 7):

Best regards,

David

Bonjour David,

Looks nice!

I wonder if a tutorial could be done on how to achieve such effects.

Keep it up!

PS : J'espère que la "froidure" de l'Europe n'a pas trop envahi ton coin de pays !

Hi Pierre,

Thanks :-) I will definitely work on a tutorial (and also tips and tricks) soon, so stay tuned.
BTW, I now have a twitter account, so you can follow me on there too.

Best regards,

David

P.S. Il a fait un peu froid pendant 2 semaines (-10° C à Lyon), mais cela va mieux maintenant. Et ce n'est sans doute rien par rapport à la Colombie britannique !

That's a great tool, never seen before!
If can make sequence images will be more interesting! Keep it up! Thank you for your tools

Thank you Lynda and Anonymous.
Even though FotoSketcher does not directly support animation, you can use the bacth function to render multiple images and then use a third party tool to make them into a video.

Hi Anonymous,

Unforunately, I did not save the parameters I used, but as you guessed it's mainly the new emergence effect.
In order to have better detail in the head of the parrot, I then used a different set of parameters with the manual brush (applied just to the head).
I is also possible that I merged the image with another effect (like Painting 7 for instance), but I don't remember for sure.
And finally, I added texture and a frame.

Hi, I'm a commercial illustrator. (for many years) I've been following the progress of this program since it's inception and I'm impressed with what you have accomplished.

I've been using digital media since the late Eighties, and now almost exclusively.

I've used your program in combination with traditional and digital mediums as well.

I follow the progress of most of
the digital art programs that are available today, and yours is one of the most thought through of all of them.

I've created many pencil sketch effects from within the the digital media base on the way I sketch so it would have the feel of the real thing.

I'd like permission at sometime in the future to post a piece that uses your program.

P.S. I'd like to try a beta version of the new Pencil effect, especially the bottom photo is
very interesting!

Please continue with your fine work

Regards,
DM

Hi DM,

Thank you very much for your nice message. I am proud and happy that you find FotoSketcher of use and you are most welcome to posting an example of your work (for instance on the FotoSketcher Flickr.com group).
I will write a new post as soon as an early beta version is available, so stay tuned :-)
